Golf Cart Church at St. Paul’s
Church services in the beauty of God’s creation will resume on Sunday, May 9th. Weather permitting, worshipers will gather in St. Paul’s back lawn using their own golf carts as their “pews.” There is plenty of room to spread out the carts so everyone is seated six feet apart. Individuals who would rather bring their own lawn chair may do that as well. The golf cart entrance is at the back of the lot on the end of the fence closest to Bay Lodging. The walk in entrance is behind the church, near the office door. Our hospitality specialists and ushers will greet you at the gate with bulletins and help you find a spot.
Golf cart church will continue until mid-June when temperatures and humidity begin to soar. When we return inside, worshipers will enjoy air conditioned comfort since St. Paul’s added AC to the church about a year ago. Like other businesses, stores, etc., we follow the guidance of the Ohio Department of Health and the CDC. All Episcopal Churches in Ohio continue to sit worshipers six feet apart and we do wear masks (over mouth and nose please). Once COVID conditions diminish, our bishop will tell us when we no longer need to wear masks in our worship spaces.
Food Pantry Annex Reopens at St. Paul’s
An outdoor food pantry annex is available to those who choose to use it. The annex is for “critter-proof” items only (i.e. canned foods). Please do not drop off items in plastic or glass packaging at the Annex; we do not want to clean up any messes they generate. The indoor part of the Food Pantry is open Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The indoor portion will be open the same hours throughout May, and we hope to continue the rest of the summer as long as COVID recommendations allow. St. Paul’s appreciates all of our donors including a grant from the Ottawa County Foundation for the winter months. We have a variety of canned foods, and other non-perishable items available thanks to the generosity of our community.
St. Paul’s Parking and Overflow Parking Guidance
Notice to all: St. Paul’s does not permit overnight parking or other public parking of vehicles not actively participating in St. Paul’s events. This includes golf carts that are often abandoned at night. Cart owners are notified any time a cart is abandoned in the lot and asked to remove them. From time to time we discover boats, campers and other vehicles in our parking areas. Although we usually put a note on the windshield and hope the owner will return in a short period of time, vehicles may be towed if not removed. Please do not encourage anyone to park in the church lot if not participating in an activity at the church.
St. Paul’s overflow parking area is the 50-foot wide grassy space between our chain link fence and the dirt road going to Mr. Glauser’s boat business. There is no parking allowed within 20-feet of the fence at any time. A limited number of vehicles related to Mr. Glauser’s business are parked in the area per an agreement between Mr. Glauser and St. Paul’s. ALL other vehicles not owned by Mr. Glauser parked in this area MUST have a signed Hold Harmless agreement on file at St. Paul’s. The Hold harmless Agreements are available from Mr. Glauser for boats and from St. Paul’s office for any others requesting permission to park in the area.
