St. Paul’s Celebrates Epiphany with House Blessings

The Feast of the Epiphany commemorates the visit of the Maji who brought gifts of Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh to the infant Jesus. Tradition says they followed a star from the east which led them to Jesus. Once again, Mother Mary will go house to house offering a traditional Epiphany blessing. To participate, please call the church office to set up a time on January 6th (you do not need to be at home). Epiphany concludes the 12 Days of Christmas spanning from Christmas Day to January 6th.

Happy New Year & Welcome 2022! We are all looking forward to a new year full of activities, food, fun and fellowship! The holidays presented us with many wonderful opportunities to get together to “eat, drink and be merry,” but as the New Year arrives many of us are planning to start new diet and exercise programs. If you are, too, come join us at the Senior Center on Monday, Wednesday and Friday for aerobic dance and strength training. It’s always more fun when others are sweating too!

Additional January fun includes: “Soup & A Show” on Tuesday, January 11th, at 5:30 p.m., and then on Thursday, Jan. 27th, at 5 p.m., we will enjoy a “Senior Social” at Topsy Turvey’s. Please check out the calendars posted at the Senior Center, Post Office, Twp. Office and the Library for our full schedule of activities. Any last-minute additional events or changes to scheduled events will be posted at the Post Office.

Our Senior Lunches continue every Monday at Topsy’s at noon. Please make your reservation by 12 p.m. on the prior Friday by signing up at the Senior Center or calling the center at (419) 285-5501. A very special thank-you goes out to the staff at Topsy’s for keeping the senior lunches running smoothly!

The EMS continues to take Blood Pressures every Monday at 10 a.m. This is a wonderful service they provide so feel free to get yours checked. The “60+ Clinic” is scheduled for Thursday, January 27th. This free health clinic is put on by the Ottawa County Health Dept. for those 60 and older. If you’d like to take advantage of this wonderful program, please call 419-734-6800 to make your appointment.

All the PIB Seniors want to say THANK YOU for the wonderful Fruit Baskets they received from the PIB Recreation Committee! Your hard work and generosity helped make our holidays brighter and definitely more delicious. We are blessed to live on this beautiful island with such a supportive small-town community!

Hope to see you at the Senior Center soon!
